Soil

Clay loam on the Beaver River terrace, transitioning to heavier clay and some shale influence on the elevated hillside sections. The older residential areas have had minimal formal soil amendment and compaction relief — core aeration delivers noticeable results quickly on these properties.

Turf

Tall fescue is the standard grass type on most residential properties. New Brighton's older sections have established lawns with mixed grass stands accumulated over decades. Hillside properties above the Beaver River frequently have thin turf from poor soil depth and the difficulty of establishing grass on steep grades.

Climate

Beaver River valley position provides slight moderation compared to inland Beaver County. First frost around mid-October; green-up in early-to-mid April. The hillside properties above the river experience more temperature variability and wind exposure than the protected low-lying sections.
